Within the System Settings, under the Options heading, you'll find a series of Options that are used to modify the available selections that will appear within options gadgets (Options Checkboxes, Options Dropdown, Options Multiselect, Options Radios, Options Typeahead) or fields such as the Subject Code, Terms, and Objectives. Options are designed to limit the amount of manual data entered by users as they create proposals - reducing the the number of errors and ensuring consistency.
Items within this category can be modified by Admins or CM Admins - unless a user is granted permissions to manage them.
Option Types
Using option types provides the ability to constrain what users are able to select from, and are best suited for data such as course types, degree types, lecture types, etc. (Subject Codes would be an exception - and are handled separately.) For example, you can limit the Degree Types to a predetermined list, preventing accidental duplicate entries such as Bachelor vs Bachelor's.
For more details on how to create and manage Option Types, see the Configure Option Types section.
Subject Codes
Subject codes (sometimes referred to as 'Prefix') are the unique identifiers associated with courses offered. Subject Codes allow you as an Admin to enter all the relevant subject codes for your courses to prevent errors or duplicates from being introduced. For example, by specifying the subject codes, you can prevent duplicates such as 'ACC' and 'ACCT'.
Subject codes appear as a separate item within the System Settings, despite having a lot of similarities to the Option Types. Option Types are designed to support generic, preconfigured lists of data for proposers to draw from, whereas Subject Codes are specifically designed to manage the course prefix information.
For more details on how to create and manage Subject Codes, see the Configure Subject Codes section.
Learning Objective Tags
The Learning Objective Tags can be used to within the Outcomes gadget if a category is needed. If the category is shown on the outcomes gadget, it will appear as an additional drop down menu to the right of the outcomes list.
For more details on creating and managing Learning Objective Tags, see the Configure Learning Objective Tags section.
Assessment Scales
The Assessment Scales are used within the rule for Grade Type. Multiple options can be created here, which can allow for different rubrics to be used if needed, and allows you to tailor the values as needed for the rule.
For more details on how to create and manage Assessment Scales, see the Configure Assessment Scales section.
Tags
Types entered as a tag can be used with the Tags gadget; which can display on your item type search pages.
For more details on creating and managing Tags, see the Configure Tags section.
Other
The following items shown under Options are settings put into place prior to the Option Types feature being added, and do not serve a specific purpose within the system any longer. It is possible to add information into them the same way that other Option Types are created; but it would be strongly recommended to use the Option Types instead as these will be phased out of the system.
