Multi School Linking

This setting is used in combination with the Foreign Courses or Linked Institution Subject Codes gadgets, and allows linking across two or more institutions. These gadgets are primarily used within a system of schools, where information may be shared or referred to across multiple institutions, and each one has their own instance of CM. 

Note: If you are interested in using this setting or either of the two mentioned gadgets, please be sure to reach out to our Support Team to ensure all settings are correctly established to ensure the fields perform as expected.

In order to use either the Foreign Courses or Linked Institution Subject Codes gadget, a link to the secondary institution must first be established by an admin. To add a link to another institution:

• Navigate to the System Settings.
• Below the Admin Settings, select Multi School Linking.
• Select +Link New School.
• Three new fields will appear on the screen: Display Name, URL Name, and API Key. 

• In the field for Display Name, enter the name of the institution that you are linking to. This will be displayed on the form to help identify the link. 
• In the URL Name, enter the short name used for the CM instance for the linked school.
  • This refers to the name that appears before kuali.co/cm in the URL. For example, if your institution accessed CM by going to monsters.kuali.co, then you would use monsters as the short name.
• In the API Key field, you will need to enter the API key provided by the linked institution. 
  • If you do not already have one, one will need to be created for this purpose by the linked institution. API Keys expire one year after being created, so this key will need to be updated annually to ensure the linked information remains updated.

Once this has been added, Foreign Courses or Linked Institution Subject Codes gadgets can be used on the form and will refer to this linked institution. If you do not already have the fields added to your form, please reach out to our Support Team to have them added.
