Managing Workflow Branches

Has anyone developed a great way to manage this scenario in workflow 2.0? 

Online division needs to approve a new program to be offered online but the new program also has a ground offering. Proposal needs to go to university governance to be approved, but can't move forward because the online division has not yet approved, and it might take them four months. :-)

Right now our strategy is to process the online requests in Build, separately from the program form approval.  But anyone come up with a better way to manage those branched workflows when one branch might take muuuch longer?

  Hi Katie,

  Are you hoping for the record to continue through the rest of the workflow while waiting for the Online Division to approve or are you hoping it will sit there static until both campus and online approve?

  Hi Mike! Our hope is that the record would continue on through, but obviously the final stage is difficult, especially since we have integrations built at the end which would trigger upon "approval." So, if the online division doesn't approve, we wouldn't be able to send over the program to implement any ground options, etc.
