Kuali Days 2021 User Community Introductions
Hi everyone!
You may have been directed here via the Kuali Days 2021 presentation on our User Community but either way, we're so happy you're here! Please take a minute to introduce yourself by telling us:
- Your name
- Your institution
- Your role
- What you're hoping to get out of the Kuali User Community
- A topic you'd like to discuss with the rest of the community
Thank you for contributing and helping us shape the Kuali User Community!
We look forward to all the sharing, collaboration, and brainstorming that's to come!

Aloha! I'm Terri Ota, from the University of Hawaii-West Oahu. I am one of the Kuali administrators for this campus; also manage the catalog, curriculum, and faculty affairs. Our Kuali CM has been evolving over the last 3 years, and hope to get more ideas about how to help our faculty understand and use CM. This looks like a good place to share! Thank you! Terri

Hi, I'm James Wigginton from the University of Victoria in Canada. I am normally the Manager for Curriculum and Calendar, but am currently filling in as the Director of Undergraduate Records and Graduation Services.
I hope we can learn from each other and collaborate to improve the functionality of CM and Catalog. I'm happy to discuss any aspect of our set up, from the implementation process to our current configuration, and how we use APIs to get the most from CM and Catalog.
I'd love to see other institutions Catalogs. If anyone is interested, ours can be viewed at www.uvic.ca/calendar

I'm Katie Jensen Ord from Arizona State University. I am a Curriculum Coordinator Sr with the Office of the Provost. The provost office is the keeper of the curriculum at our university and we have a small staff who are responsible for review and routing of curriculum.
I'd love to get ideas from this community on best practices and new functionality you've started adopting in Kuali.
A topic of discussion could be how you communicate the revision/version terminology to users OR if anyone else is struggling with HLC's adjustment of policy related change to programs (which includes delivery method, like online)!

- Kara Kam-Kalani
- University of Hawaii System, Honolulu Community College
- KSCM Campus Coordinator
- I would like to see how other campuses manage their curriculum processes and learn possible workarounds for common issues.
- I would like to discuss how Catalog Management can expedite (or not) the process and timeline of curriculum review. Does curriculum review only happen once a year for most campuses? I can't imagine it being done every semester as the catalog would be in constant flux.
Great to meet you all at Kuali Days 2021!
Kara

Hello everyone!
- My name is: Mike O'Connor
- I'm from Southern New Hampshire University
- My role is the Associate Director of System Analytics - the fancy name for the system administrator for Kuali Curriculum and Catalog at SNHU
- What I'm hoping to get out of the community: I'm hoping to learn from other universities, share what we have learned, problem-solve collaboratively, and help to shape the future of the Kuali Curriculum and Catalog by offering feedback on the products and features.
- Topics I'd like to discuss with the community: Lately, I've been interested in hearing more about what other institutions choose to display on the catalog and what they choose to not show. Things like equated courses, programmatic accreditations, etc. I'm also always interested in seeing how different institutions configure their CM instance to creatively solve problems and make processes more efficient.
Looking forward to meeting more of you!
Best,
Mike

CM related Role: local product manager; as Manager of the Student Information Systems Client Services and Process Integration area (functional and BA support) responsible for CM and CM integration within the larger course management and student enrolment ecosystem.
I'm looking forward to greater interaction amongst institutions to see how different tools are being used and what common challenges are. I'd like to get a sense of what collective priorities are vs what we tell Kuali our immediate needs are. Of special interest is how Canadian institutions are managing some of our structures that may be different (e.g., different graduate program structure, different accrediting bodies for professional programs).

I'm also excited to learn about what practices you've adopted that have helped you to streamline your processes and how you get faculty and staff to engage in your processes. I like James Wigginton 's idea to share Calendars/Catalogs. Should we start a new discussion about Catalogs? We could do a show and tell? I know that Mike O'Connor (SNHU) at SNHU has some big changes coming up this year with their catalog that it would be neat to discuss.
Great to see so many of you this week at the conference!

- Being able to ask about how other institutions have solved problems would be great!
- I'm interested in how you are using the Sharing functionality with proposals, as well as if/how you have the Outcomes gadget embedded in your forms.
